Mike Evans is not thrilled about moving to New Hope his senior year of high school and being the new kid in town. When he joins the basketball team, his faith is tested as he fights to get along with the team’s star player, Lucas, who torments him both on and off the court.
Lucas, played by Ben Davies, is a hothead who is still dealing with the tragic loss of his brother Chase. It appears to Lucas that the new kid is benefiting from everything his brother left behind. Fiercely loyal to preserving the memory of his deceased brother, Lucas is determined to make Mike’s senior year miserable. Mike, who is also a preacher’s son, must find it within himself to honor his Christian values of love and forgiveness…even when others aren’t doing the same.
A well-crafted film with a strong Christian message, “New Hope” follows a young man’s fight to turn the other cheek, rise above his tormenter and forgive a hurting soul. Directed by Roney Ray (“Flag of My Father”), this inspiring drama reminds us that life’s troubles may test our faith, but God is watching out for us every step of the way.
